Over $11,000 in combined cash and merchandise on offer for newly-expanded two day event
Minneapolis – On the weekend of November 14th and 15th, hundreds of racers and spectators will descend upon Bassett Creek Park in Crystal, Minnesota (just a short 10min drive from Downtown Minneapolis) for the Shimano Minnesota State Cyclocross Championship Weekend and Expo.
A veritable bonanza of cyclocross, the weekend’s racing will feature scores of the regions fastest men and women competing on their bikes over mud, sand, and man-made obstacles, including the park’s infamous stairs, where spectators can get up close and personal with the riders on each successive lap. The weekend looks to become the largest cyclocross super-event in the upper Midwest featuring not only racing but delicious food, cold beer, hot coffee and more cowbell than you can fathom. On top of all this, organizers have compiled a $4,000 cash purse and over $7,000 in merchandise from the world’s premier bicycle component manufacturers, suppliers and best area shops, creating an event of epic proportions. As if this weren’t enough, the entire event is set-up to benefit the city of Crystal’s Youth Sports Program! You get to race your bike, yell at the top of your lungs and feel good about it, all at the same time!
This event couldn’t happen without the support of Shimano and a host of other local Minnesota-based bicycle shops and companies. Penn Cycle will take care of you with unmatched neutral support. Behind-Bars Bicycle Shop, One on One Bicycle Studio and Freewheel Bike will staff their very own viewing areas at some of the course’s coolest features; topping it all off, GrandStay Hotels are offering spectacular rooms for 25% off at their Apple Valley location. Just tell ‘em that you are in town for the biggest event of the cyclocross season!
